I dont think i have ever seen Barry get made while skating. It looks like he is going to here but he managed to land on his feet somehow... I've probably jynxed him now anyway seeing as am good at telling people theyr going to get hit by busses or something just before it actually happens.
Call it fate or whatever i dont really car, what am i even rambling on about.
This kid ruined the spot we went down there for by splashing water all over it but Chase was still fruitfull even managed to dodge the C.O.P.
All in all i was pretty impressed with the crew that the city lured in today.

Rin Hutcheson is definately a little up and comer in the Freo skate scene to keep an eye on. Hes only 13 but skates like someone much older. Unlike a lot of kids his age that just tend to throw themselves down the biggest set of stairs they can find, Rin can skate any ledge or transition and with the speed and style to make it look good as well. He seems to be pretty unlucky with injuries at the moment sadly so hasnt been shredding as much, but i have been trying to teach him how to use a camera... give him something else to do while hes out and about for now. heres a little collection of mixed media i had lying around of Rin.

I dont like this dog, and he doesn't like me.
Every day i skate to work down this quiet little bush track to the beach i have been attacked by this angry little mut. I meen we know some dogs hate the sound of the hard wheels smashing along the bitumen but this is insane. He is the gaurd dog at some industrial yard i go past and from nearly 100 meters away i have been gauranteed to see this thing coming flying around the corner and strait for me trying to tear my ankles off until i am forced to get off my board. Anyway i needed to finish off a roll after shooting some maysive hammers so thought id get try get some of the pup, was not easy taking a photo of something that would not stay still constantly circling and snapping... My old dog used to be terrified of cameras he would run and cowar at the sight of them, and seems this one may have been the same. I dont know if the dog now associates the sound of the skateboard with the soul stealing lense i carry around but i havent been hassled by the thing since!
there is a few other arty photos at woolies from the batch as well, including some of some nice treats Dom brought back from Melbourne.

Im at my mums for lunch and noticed she still has quite a few decent sized frogs in here pond. My cat Cali tends to catch them and leave them dead on the living room floor along with birds and possums that iv heard about her hunting down aswell...
Theres hundreds of tiny tadpolls in there now aswell so she should have a lot of fun this summer.
Heres the only frog that didnt run away when i went out with my mums camera to get a flik no wonder they get eaten when they just sit on the rocks like this.

This has got to be my trendiest post yeti would say.
This photos are absolute shit, they were basically an experiment with a Houghtons Ensign 2 1/4B.Box from the 1920's.
Alberts dad found the camera in one of his tenants backyards or something and so i was lucky enough to get my hands on it and have a play. Turns out its only worth $10 or something even with its antiqueness. It did have a few things wrong with it that im working on fixing up, the thing that i gues would be like a dark slide had come off and one of the rollers for the film snapped a pin so its a bit loose. Plus i had to take the whole thing apart to fix the shutter. But the whole camera is so basic in every way its just fascinating seeing how much cameras have changed.
Il have to take some photos of the box so you can see what im talking about sometime.
but anyway these photos are shit and to make things even trendier i chucked my bike in there...
The shutter speed is stupidly slow so nothing is verry sharp and the focus seems to be set more for long landscape style shots then close up stuff.
im sure il put a few more rolls through it before i get sick of wasting my time and money, but for now this is it.

Poaching the Lynx

Quayde Baker may be one of the easiest people to take a photo of while hes on his board, with so much style and talent he would have something for nearly any spot.
Getting a decent portrait photo of him on the other hand is a completely different matter. The second he sees a camera on his face hes outa there.
I managed to catch him with his gaurd down after destroying a certain secret spot.

If your'e on my blog im sure you realised i was away in Sydney and Melbourne for the last 2 weeks. Being such a tourist in Sydney i took lots of photos and if you were lucky enough you would have received a limited edition Aidan White Photography postcard.
Its looking like some of them were lost in the post (not yours albert you just didnt get one)
i scanned them all up last night so you can all check them out anyway see what everyone else got and all that i cant remember all of who got wich ones but they should all be there.
i think theyr kinda big files so might take a while to load.

Some may think its insane, but personally i think its absolute genius.
flavours collide and the most unhealthy mouth watering creation i have ever tasted was put together.
This was my lunch today.
a Krispy Kreme original glazed donut cut in half
containing
the contents of one Hungry Jacks cheeseburger
(i would have opted for Mcdonalds but there isnt one in freo anymore)
if i could do it again i would
but i doubt i will have anymore donuts come mid day tomorow.
give it a do some time if you get the chance

What is being productive

The last two days haven't really gone to plan verry well at all. Both i had been hoping to get out skating and shooting but both managed to get rained out as bad as the other.
Monday ended up cruising around i think it might have been Fitzroy going from pub to pub, had an amazing half price dinner at one of them and some intense video game action at another... became a bit much to handle at some points. Monday night also made my first visit back to Pepperonis since i have been here, Would have to be the most convenient and actually decent tasting pizza slicery around 24 hrs a day i think as well?
Tuesday started off a bit better, wasn't raining yet but it was SOOO cold. So went and had a nice little breakfast with Belle before meeting up with some crew to try and be productive. It didn't last long. The chilling wind picked up and the rain came down and it was over. Ended up chilling in Prahran with the other perth crew in town for now.
So i haven't really got to do that much of what i wanted but im still having fun, taking photos of filmers instead of skaters...

Catching Up

My daily updates for the trip kind of failed pretty badly there for a bit. But theres just been so much going on in Melbourne and the shittest vodaphone connection i could not deal with.
Spend the first day just chilling in the city as it got rained out prety hard and went to the opening for the new Street Machine shop in Prahran wich is an amazing shop, Met up with Gloks an Jewi there and met heaps of other amazing crew, before being taken out into the city with Cornwell for some of the real Melbourne night life.
As you can see from the photo Gloks had a prety big night as well...
Had a couple of good little skates round the city the last 2 days and even was lucky enough to get to skate the famous big 3 in the city that your only meant to get on newyears day.
Had my way with a couple of chicken parmas so far and lots of other cuisine,
But the highlight so far has definately been meeting Tim Regard, DOPEST DUDE ALIVE!!!

Today was my last day in Sydney, Tomorow im off to Melbourne!!!
Sadly my last day got heavily rained out. A light sprinkling shower that decided to extend itself throughtout the whole day.
I met up with Olly anyway as we planned to head up to Cammeray, wich we did anyway so i could see how amazing the park there was that i would not get to skate thanks to the wetness. I even saw a couple of grommies wandering around one rolling on a GMTA 40 board.
The rest of the day consisted of burritos (the green thing was lunch), slurpees and a bit of shopping before heading back to Ollys for some drinks and getting more burritos with him an Jess.
So thats the end of that chapter
Its all about Buuuuuurn City for the next 10 days

Sydney Day 2

Today went much better then the first. Got up nice and early after a short refreshing sleep and started the day off with an amazing breakfast nothing short of half a dozen original glazed.
Made my way down to The Rocks to check out the markets and get some more touristy photos before heading off for a skate with Olly. I cant remember the last time i skated so much, spots and just trecking around the city. Both of my pinky toes have turned into massive blisters from wearing in new shoes all day. Had to have a roll at Martin Place while i had the chance then checked out a couple of upledges and an amazing little park in redfern. Nothing overly exciting happend so i wont bore you all.

i was bored and thought id just got take some super cool long exposures down at the dock. i was planning on getting all the letters looking all arty but the further threw the alphabet i went the shitter the lighting got on the buildings so i stopped at C. I tried to do a panorama as well but then it started raining.

On a little mission up to Scarborough today, didnt actually get any skating done. But we met some freindly locals possibly homeless... and their pet albino rabbit.
who knows where they got it from or how it hasnt just run away or anything but i got some interesting shots of that if nothing else.
They all seemed to know a fair bit about skating and started giving us lessons about physics and other random stuff... im not really sure why one of them had a wedding dress on but.

thanks to the end of the financial my camera setup has found a nice new adition to its little family. One Lumedyne 200 Extrafast Action pack battery powered strobe.
Im still trying to get a proper charger soughted for it but will hopefully have something to show for it pretty soon.

It dosn't look like too much, until you see the size of the battery pack...

A couple of years ago i enheritted quite an impressive collection of matchbooks from my Grandma, iv been meaning to do something with them... but for now i thought id just start documenting them or something, make it a regular posting thing inbetween rolls of film getting processed.
This one always stood out to me for some reason.

As part of the Fremantle Festival, Clangfest, the youth event for this year was held at the Flyby nightclub.
These are some of the photos i took of one of the bands, Morning people.
They are a new band that has just come together but they all have pleanty of experience and put on an amazing show. check them out.

Momentum X Beastman

Last night saw the opening of the 3rd instalation display in Momentum Claremonts front display window.
The exhibition put on by Sydney based arstist Brad Eastman filled the front window along with a selection of prints and canvas for sale instore, coinciding with the launch of Folklores new artist series decks designed by Beastman as well as the start of the Folklore Fry Up Tour wich takes off today.
Apart from the exhibition last night was also Banis last shift at the shop and turned out to be a great farewell party as much as anything else.
Heaps of fun was had by everyone
Thanks go out to Folklore for flying Brad over here Grant and Wendy for letting this happen and the freindly neighbourhood police that could of shut it all down but were nice enough to let us have some fun.

TwentyEleven X Momentum Skateshop

If you havn't been down to claremont momentum recently now is the time to check it out.
Not only has the whole store been refurbished with a classy new look but the front window has been converted to a local artist concept space, to help promote and give local artists the recognition they deserve Momentum skateshop will be displaying a new exhibition right on Stirling highway every 6 weeks.
The newly installed work by Freos own TwentyEleven was completed last night and is jaw droppingly impressive to say the least, with a wide range of mediums used to complete his work 20/11 has covered the entire wall in painted panels and three dimensional peices that will keep you looking at their detail for hours. Everytime you look at the work you will notice something that you didnt see before.
So take my word and seriously find some time and get out to check this shit before its gone, you wont feel like you wasted your time.

I got a few sequences on the weekend but only had time to do one of them so far
Everyone actualy decided to leave freo on sunday so there will be stuff that isnt just of woolies for once... i also finally orderd a fisheye so hopefuly got that going by next weekend

well seing as iv fucked up my knee pretty nicely it seems i wont be skating for a while but i can still take photos so heres some from the weekend and today
its been a while since i got all the gear out and i know i did a prety half assed job but you can see the guy coming to grab the sign so it was prety rushed...

i planned on leaving freo bymyself today to go meet up with lloyd but i ran into nige an jackson so dragged them along aswel. had a better day then i was expecting theres so many interesting people and things to see in the city, such as this bum that thought he was security or something, see the coffee hes drinking, that came out of the bin hes sitting next to wich was the bin i was also trying to skate over wich he wasnt too happy about. poor guy

skated with some other kids aswel while i was in town, Eugene especially was doing some amazing stuff at wherever he was but kept getting kicked out before he could roll away in the end just got this fsflip over the hip the wrong way and Guy got this boneless down the silver seven

il try shoot some stuff at the momentum thing at gosnells tomorow so might have some more stuff for you too look at soon

i havnt taken any photos in a while so i decided to give the blog a holiday,

its back for now with a fancy new logo but just have to see how long itl last.

heres the last photo i took a while ago now, noddy nosebonking over a wall from a runup coverd in slippery moss, this spot was so much fun you could do the longest powerslides ever and only be going at about walking speed.

il see if i can find some old stuff to put up if i dont get anything soon, or maybe just some photos of all my dunks

oh an theres a curb just after those 3 slabs on the landing so noddy nearly broke his ankle when he didnt quite make it

A local hobbit from the shire of fremantle, just trying to get noticed in the big wide world of consumerism,
Rowan Williamson has been a long time ripper on his board who seems to be able to skate just about anything you put in front of him in any stance that he wants. whether its flipping into some well locked trick at woolies or switch boneless 360ing down an above average sized gap hes in control of his board.
But recently this hasnt been enough for Frodo, over the last year or so he has been working on putting together his own company named Tré Apparel. With much support from the perth skate scene Frodo has just officially launched his first set of limited edition prints.

Sup Fro hows it feel to be the first interview on the photos of Aids blog?
Yeh i know its not that special...

What made you want to start up your own clothing company?

Well when I was a grommet all of my money was getting absorbed by boards and shoes so instead of buying skate shirts I used to just make stencils and then bust out the old tube of fabric paint and a paint roller or sponge on a Targét shirt.

How did you get it all going in the beginning? Basically I had been hustling the link for so long that gave me three choices; I could do work for the dole, get a full-time job (fuck that) or the NEIS program… Basically the government pays me to start my own small business. It’s taken me 6 months to get this far, by the end of the year I should be supporting myself.

What kind of image is Tré going for?

Tré is not loud. Everything’s so loud these days, it’s all self promoting bullshit. Tré is more subtle, consider a falling leaf, it breaks away from the tree and seeks its own path that is Tré. Tré is not what is said, but what is not said.

Recently you held the official launch in Freo, what exactly went down?

My first ten “WOOLSTORES FOREVER” tees were finally put on sale at Momentum. It was supposed to happen the week before but it rained like a mofo. Coinciding with the launch there was also a couple of games of skate going down around the corner… A year’s hook ups by Tré was won by a French dude, Raphael, closely contested by young Tyson (damn that kids got tricks!) The carton of Cooper’s was won by Quayde.

So is there much planned out for future of Tré?

The sky’s the limit. At the moment I’m just taking it one step at a time.

Any more events like the game of skate?

When I drop my next designs I was thinking of organising something similar to the last one. Except this time I wana have beats, eats and more ledge skating.

Putting a team together?

That’s all in consideration too, but like I said I’m just gonna take it one step at a time.

Fun Time in Freo

Had a fun pretty much all day skate at the netball courts yesterday, thats fun for these two kids who decided they didnt have anything else to do except try and have a go on everyones board even if it was Frodos in the middle of trying a trick. im pretty sure they were there when we turned up and they were still there when we left once it was getting dark.

If that wasnt enough then this dog turned up and tried to attack anyone who rolled anywhere near the bank. but apart from that the day went alright and a few hammers went down.

well it was a pretty slow moving day where most the time was spend at woolies as usual and i shot the best stuff of the day probly in the first half hour after that we trecked out to a few other spots but didnt get any great results cos the sun goes down too early these days and i havnt realy had a chance to figure out the flashes on my new camera.

What a weekend..... the first with my new cam and one to remember.

Starting with an amazing breakfast on a beutiful sunny day and ending with just about the complete oposite, KFC in some of the shittiest weather imaginable.

Fros game of skate went amazing but i dont have any photos of that, in all my gear i dont even have a simple punt an cluck to get the moments.

Props to Tyson who played an amazing game in the finals of the unsponsored but couldnt pull through with all the lets just say, different.... tricks this french guy had.

nice work to Quayde aswel.

Anyway no happy snaps so to go with the Tre Day heres Alex popping a pretty nice one while we were sheltering from sundays downpour.

nannup ollied this massive gap at the spot aswel but i havnt gotten around to putting the fliks together yet. maybe some other time.

Well it all starts from here i gues, the first sequence iv ever shot, and it was at night time so i had to try and figure out the flashes and stuff.

We got kicked out twice before i even had the camera out so was a little rushed and didnt have time to figure out how to get things going just how i wanted.

Well we all know Mr Campbell here does, he pretty much got enough footage for a whole interview in this day. It was easter monday and we went to about 5 difrent spots around melville and did something amazing at each wether it was amazing hammers down gaps or crazy grind to manual combos he had something where ever we went.

This spot the rail is atleast waist high but he 5050d it prety much first go i think, then he 5050 transferd over it aswel.

Well this weekend wasnt very eventfull photowise, Saturday was just full of chilln and well Sunday decided to rain more then i can remember for a long time, got a bit of skating done as it seems perths ghetto freeway spot is back in action.
